The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Georgia – New Research Findings by ACTR
In the modern world, artificial intelligence has become an integral part of daily life. Against this backdrop, it is interesting to study how Georgia’s population uses and perceives this technology.
“ACT Research” (ACTR) conducted an online survey in April 2025 about “The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Georgia.”
The absolute majority of social media users in Georgia (96%) have heard about artificial intelligence in general, while 81% also know by name some AI platform.
Artificial intelligence platforms already hold a firm position in the daily life of Georgian digital consumers – 71% of social media users actively use various AI tools. This indicator confirms that artificial intelligence in Georgia is no longer just an experimental technology, but a practical instrument that meets user needs.
The level of artificial intelligence awareness and usage varies significantly by age groups. The research results clearly show that as age increases, both awareness about AI platforms and activity in their usage decreases.
Among social media users, the highest engagement was recorded in the 18-35 age category: 98% of this segment has heard about some specific artificial intelligence platform, while 94% actually uses it for various purposes.
As it turns out, the use of paid versions is a relatively less common behavior (12%), with surveyed respondents still giving preference to free alternatives. This trend may point to two main factors: on one hand, users’ still low readiness to pay for digital products, and on the other hand – the sufficient functionality of free versions, which already meets users’ needs.
The overall picture clarifies that AI is rapidly spreading in Georgia, though the realization of its commercial potential is still in the development stage.
Differences are observed between Tbilisi and the regions in terms of artificial intelligence awareness and usage: AI platforms are more well-known and actively used in Tbilisi compared to the regions:
- Awareness: Tbilisi 87%; Regions 78%;
- Usage: Tbilisi 79%; Regions 68%;
In Georgia, ChatGPT is the most well-known and widely used platform in the field of artificial intelligence. Other platforms significantly lag behind these indicators, which underlines ChatGPT’s dominant position.
Artificial intelligence is actively used – 76% of respondents use AI platforms twice a week or more frequently, which indicates its wide and repeated usage. The main purposes of use clearly reflect AI’s functional role:
- Information search – 74%
- Learning and research – 52%
- General advice – 48%
- Idea generation – 43%
It can be said that AI is not only used for technical purposes, but is actively integrated into educational and creative processes.
The growing use of artificial intelligence naturally raises questions related to trust – it is interesting to see how much the user trusts a system that plays an increasingly important role in daily life?
As it turns out, almost half (45%) of Georgian social media users trust artificial intelligence, though signs of skepticism are still observed in society – 28% view AI with suspicion or show certain distrust towards it. About a quarter of respondents find it difficult to answer about their attitude towards artificial intelligence.
On the issue of trust towards artificial intelligence, the opinions of Tbilisi users are divided into two parts: 42% trust AI, while 40% view it with suspicion.
Despite certain skepticism, public attitudes are generally optimistic: 56% of respondents believe that AI will positively change society’s life.
The research results clarify that artificial intelligence is rapidly adapting in Georgia. High awareness, active usage and positive expectations indicate that AI is no longer just a new technology – it has already become part of daily decisions and experiences.
*We surveyed 637 social media users online. The survey was conducted during the period from April 22 to May 13, 2025. The statistical error of the data, on average, does not exceed 4%.
This study was conducted at the initiative of the company “ACT Research” (ACTR) within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, under the rubric “Digital Trends”.
ACTR’s CSR policy is based on an approach focused on public well-being and the generation of timely, evidence-based data to better understand societal issues. To this end, ACTR periodically conducts public opinion research in four main areas:
“Voice of Society” – studying social and civic attitudes;
“Voice of the Consumer” – analysis of consumer behavior and needs;
“Voice of Business” – research on private sector trends and expectations;
“Digital Trends” – monitoring technological and digital changes.
The goal of the initiative is to improve access to data and promote informed, public interest–based decision-making in both the private and public sectors.
ACTR ensures data transparency and accessibility – as one of the key mechanisms for creating public value.
